For the second year in a row the Australian Political Science Association (APSA) is hosting a Politics in Asia stream at its Annual Conference. The 2019 APSA Conference is being hosted by Flinders University, Adelaide, from 22-25 September 2019, and the Politics in Asia theme presents an opportunity for Asian Studies scholars from a wide range of disciplines to present their research to a new audience.

This year’s conference features Professor Meredith Weiss as the keynote speaker. Professor Weiss is a former chair of the Southeast Asia Council of the Association for Asian Studies and is well-known in Australia as a leading political scientist specialising in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

“Politics in Asia” at APSA 2019 goes way beyond the disciplines of Political Science, International Relations and Comparative Politics. Most social science and some humanities scholarship has a political dimension, and so submissions are welcome from across a wide range of disciplines, including History, Sociology, Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Media Studies and Gender Studies, as well as research that touches on the politics through studies of education, language, religion and ethnicity.

Abstracts are due by 31 May 2019 and should be submitted through the conference website, which can be found at .

We hope to see you in September!
