The Indonesia Council holds a biennial multidisciplinary conference for scholars at all levels to present new and innovative work on Indonesia. ICOC has a particular emphasis on encouraging engagement between newer Indonesianists and established scholars and it attracts participants, from all over Australia, Indonesia and many parts of the world.

In keeping with the spirit of collegiality and community, ICOC charges no registration fee. Preceding the conference proper, ICOC hosts hold a workshop for Honours/Graduate and Postgraduate students to encourage publications and strategies for career-planning.
